THE PROPERTY |
THE PROPERTYMajestic arbutus trees sway in the ocean breezes. A terraced stairway will lead you to the sandy, private beach. Stroll for miles, collecting shells, looking for fossils, watching the herons, gulls and seabirds. Gaze at the eagles soaring overhead. Take a step back in time to a quieter existence, enjoy a picnic by the water. Listen to the gentle waves lap on the beach. Unwind! See your kids laughingly play in the water. Catch the last rays of the sun, as it sets over the distant mountains of Vancouver Island. No worries, time to relax!
The new 400 acres Mount Geoffrey Escarpment Park with its many biking and walking trails is in close proximity. The Shingle Spit to Ford Cove trail is an easy hike, with the added bonus of places to buy treats at both trail heads. If you like tennis, a 2 minute saunter down the road brings you to the court at Hornby island Resort. Alternatively, Joe King park is about 5 minutes drive from the Beach House, and for an annual membership fee of $10./person, you can play there.
The Beach House property is blessed with good water - there is a deep well, and storage reservoir - but as with other island land owners we do request you use our island water resources wisely, Hornby is designated as a "water conservation area". Help yourself to fresh oregano, fennel, mint and bay leaves from our hardy herb garden.
