To Ford Cove Harbour
On
Hornby Island

This information is offered to make your stay work for you and the other people using the dock facility.

There are certain features of the dock and the boats tied up here that make Ford Cove Harbour unique. It is relatively small. A lot of boats use it in the summer.

There are different sizes of boats from yachts and commercial fish boats to dinghies. There are different kinds of boats: commercial fish boats, dive boats, sail boats, sports fishing charter boats, and all kinds of pleasure craft.

The harbour attempts to accommodate all of them in all kinds of weather.

The wharf is a popular gathering place that Islanders and visitors have used and cherished for generations. Kids fish off the dock, artists paint, lovers stroll, we all watch the sunsets.

The harbour, which is the dock and surrounding waters, is owned and managed by the Ford Cove Harbour Authority. The Authority consists of Hornby volunteers and a Wharfinger. We are not the police and we don't like telling people what to do. Please follow the rules below to ensure that the dock works for everyone.

PLEASE NOTE:

The Commercial Float is for Commercial Fishing Vessels only or for vessels over 32 feet if there is space available. Contact the Wharfinger.

Commercial Vessels have preference and boats smaller than 32 feet will be asked to move to another float. Please respect the fact that larger vessels cannot safely tie to smaller vessels.

Boats under 14 feet tie "bow in" to the inside float.

The gas dock is reserved at all times for servicing and emergencies. NO PARKING.

The charter float is for local dive and charter vessels only.

All other vessels use the "Pleasure Craft" float.

Moorage fees are collected daily and are set by the federal government with no PST or GST.
