Education Leadership Certificate Program
Are you the adventurous type who loves outdoor activities, working with people and challenging yourself? Have you thought about a career being an outdoor education or recreation specialist or just using a wide variety of experiential outdoor education in your work? Throughout the Province of British Columbia-outdoor recreation, tourism and educational services have been and continues to be growth industries. If a career in these areas interest you, we have put a program together for you. The Outdoor Education Leadership Program is a nine week certificate program.
During the Program, participants will develop personal and facilitation skills in diverse areas such as: wall and rock climbing, ocean kayaking, team building using a high and low ropes course, passenger power boat operation, winter travel, plus many other associated skills. In addition, students have the opportunity to gain nine industry standard certificates in things like Wilderness first aid, Interpretation Training. After completing the program, participants may be able to gain practical experience by interning or working at the Tribune Bay Outdoor Education Centre. This Program is designed as a stand alone certificate course, to be a add-on certificate to a person already holding a degree wishing to specialize in outdoor education as well as to help someone gain entrance to or gain credit in some of Malaspina University College's Tourism or Recreation courses.
The Outdoor Education Leadership Program starts in late February or early March. Participants need to apply and go through an interview process to assess suitability to the program.
