Contract school groups

For contract school groups, the Manager and staff are available for consultation and assistance to educators with trip planning, program ideas, scheduling, themes and explaining site rules and procedures. Once a group arrives, staff give an orientation, help with set-up and logistics and of course...actual delivery of programs. Educators and their support adults are responsible for mealtime, free time and bedtime supervision. Also, depending on the group’s program choice and number of staff the group has contracted to utilize, educators may have the responsibility to lead some ‘low tech’ programs (with Centre program support materials).

Climbing the Giant LadderPrograms presently offered include: a climbing and rappelling program, a low and high ropes challenge course, ocean kayaking, marine adventure in our 12 person passenger boat, orienteering, environmental programs (forest and intertidal zone), cooperative games, initiative tasks, predator/prey role play games, petroglyph study, crafts ( sand candles, tye dying, paper making, wire bracelets), an active recycling program, island hiking and biking and a dynamic evening campfire program.

Customized programs

The Centre also offers customized programs; we specialize in team building and leadership programs for one day, multi-day or throughout a school year. We tailor our programs to elementary through to senior secondary schools, for a regular class to alternative, leadership or student government groups. Also we have put on demonstration programs or actual team building programs with college/university groups, school teams, school staff on pro-d days or with district school administrators.
