There are two bedrooms – one with a double bed and one with a single. The large living room couch also folds out to serve as a very comfortable queen-size bed.
A special feature is the Japanese winding stairway, leading to two bright and charming lofts. Kids love it! The larger loft sleeps two and the smaller sleeps one.
Blue Door is surrounded by lovely free-form garden beds with flowering shrubs, fragrant herbs, and beyond that half an acre of naturally landscaped rolling grassland. Trees around the perimeter of the lot provide plenty of privacy. The deck is partially covered and has lots of room for a festive barbecue. In the back yard is a picnic table amid a grove of maple, shore pine and cherry trees.
Galleon Beach Getaway is a perfect year-round destination. You can discover Hornby’s spectacular wildflowers in the spring, bask on our beaches in the summer, hike or bike the network of trails in our mild autumn weather and enjoy cozy evenings around the wood stove in the winter. You’ll see why Hornby is known as “the jewel of the Gulf Islands”.
Blue Door Cottage is just two short blocks from Galleon Beach, for swimming, beach combing and Hornby’s most spectacular sunsets. A two-minute drive takes you to the Community Hall, host to the Farmer’s Market as well as concerts, dances, art exhibits, and great movies. Another two minutes and you’re at the Co-op Store, Ringside Market and the expansive white sands of Tribune Bay. Or leave your car and enjoy an easy cycle along the community bike path.
