The Happening

Private waterfront cabin near Ford’s Cove with a panoramic view of Lambert Channel and Vancouver Island. Suitable for four people.

The Happening is a delightful, tastefully furnished and very private 720 square foot waterfront cabin on the southwest corner of Hornby Island, nestled among Douglas Fir with rare Garry Oak and Arbutus nearby. The magnificent view overlooks Lambert Channel and the Chrome Island lighthouse toward Vancouver Island to the southwest and toward the beautiful peaks of Strathcona Park to the northwest. There is a private beach access to a interesting and unique sandstone beach (great for swimming!)

The cabin features one bedroom with a queen sized bed and a large, bright open plan room which acts as kitchen, dining and living room, and which also has a queen sized sofa bed. The Happening has a child safe (always with adult supervision) deck overlooking the water. The Happening was renovated and refurnished in 2006.

Enjoy the ever changing view from the dining room or the deck.

The Happening is supplied with a roomy refrigerator/freezer, a propane cooktop with three burners (manually lit with safety matches), a toaster oven, a microwave oven, an electric kettle, and high quality kitchenware. Please note that there is no oven, no dishwasher and no washer/dryer for laundry.

Additional Comments

The Happening is at the far end of a ten acre property. Renters are asked to drive slowly by the main cabin and always close the gate behind them as there are young children and animals about.

Smoking is permitted only on the deck of the cabin, and use of Owner supplied ashtrays is required. Due to the high risk of fire, smoking is not permitted anywhere else on the property.

Pets are not permitted in the Happening at any time due to allergies. Renters are not to bring pets, even if intending to keep them outside.

The Happening has a comfortable capacity for four persons. Due to space and resource constraints, any level of overnight occupancy greater than four in the building and/or on the adjacent grounds is strictly subject to the agreement of the Owner.

Water must be carefully conserved on Hornby Island, especially during the summer season. Water is supplied to “The Happening” from an artesian well and is pumped from the main house.
