THE EAGLES

Hornby Island is the home to a great number of eagles. Their population swells even more when the herring schools move close to the island in the spring to spawn. There are many eagle nests situated in old growth treetops along the shoreline. We are lucky to have a web cam installed near an active nest. This nest had a pair of eggs which ,unfortunately, did not make it to fruition. Some feel the mating pair are getting to be too old (estimated at 20 years +) for successful reproduction.

Below are some of the pics of the Hornby Island nest that have been saved by nest watchers around the world.
