Since water on the island is scarce in the summer and you won’t find many yellow fire hydrants around, the Hornby Island Fire Department has been putting large water tanks throughout the island to draw upon in a fire emergency. Not an island to let a blank canvas go to waste, many artists have come forward to paint the water tanks with beautiful works of art. This tank located at the Co-op was painted by local artist Elizabeth Macdonald and blends nicely into the landscaped grasses.
